Glaciation on Dartmoor: A talk by Richard Horsham

Wednesday 23rd October

Time: 7.30pm

What is the landscape legacy of the severe cold climate that Dartmoor experienced as a result of the Ice Age?

Richard Horsham will discuss the effects of frost and ice processes on Dartmoor and the physical features that are left in our current landscape.

These are not always easy to recognise, interpret and explain and his talk will review both iconic, well known and little known landscape features of Dartmoor and show how the different cold climate conditions may well have been responsible for them.

Richard writes for the Dartmoor Magazine on topics relating to the Dartmoor landscape and we feel priviledged that he has agreed to travel from his home in Somerset to talk to us.

The location of this event will be published as soon as it has been agreed.

Some members may remember that this subject was covered in 2012 when Dr Stephan Harrison gave a Research Lecture to the Dartmoor Society presenting his evidence for glaciation on Dartmoor.  You can find the report on that talk via the following link.
